Child Travel Policy – Licensed Taxis & Private Hire Vehicles

UK law requires children to use a suitable child restraint until they are 12 years old or reach 135cm in height, whichever comes first. Licensed taxis and private hire vehicles are permitted certain legal exemptions; however, passenger safety remains our highest priority.

Legal Exemptions in Taxis and PHVs

Children under 3 years: May travel in the rear seat without a child seat if one is not available.
Children aged 3 years and over (under 12 years or under 135cm): May travel in the rear seat using an adult seat belt if a suitable child seat is not available.
Children 12 years or over, or taller than 135cm: Must use an adult seat belt where fitted.

Child seats and booster seats are available upon request for a small additional charge, subject to availability.
All child seats must be requested and confirmed at the time of booking.
We recommend customers bring their own child seat whenever possible for added reassurance and familiarity.
Although exemptions exist, we strongly advise the use of an appropriate child restraint wherever possible.
